We are now halfway through the first season with this third episode of “Christmas at Sea.” Will Rob be able to propose to Donna? Is Kerry going to be understanding of Paige’s choice? Will Laura see her script turned into a Hallmark movie? And is Gail finally going to let go and have some fun?
First slip ☕️
Who doubted Donna would say yes? Still, Rob is so stressed out that he didn’t pop THE question. This episode felt a bit long, but for once, the different groups seemed genuine and the scenes didn’t seem to be rehearsed over and over again. By the way, where did Nate go?

What Went down smooth 😚
- There were some lovely moments with heartfelt conversations that had me tearing up.
- I have a feeling Donna was expecting the proposal. She wasn’t as surprised as I would have thought, but the whole thing was so cute.
- Tyler’s hair perfectly styled after ten minutes under a helmet. #Flawless
- Alicia and Gail definitely had the most interesting scenes in this episode. And I’m not just saying that because Tyler was in them, calm down, Hynies!
- Speaking of them, I really enjoyed every minute of their time at the Queen’s Staircase (aside from all the drama surrounding the ATV). The open-hearted conversations and sharing between Alicia, Gail, and Tyler really moved me. I particularly liked the symbolism of throwing a stone into the water to let go of what’s holding you back.
- It was nice to see a longesegment of Mr. Shipmas’ competition, as any passenger would have experienced it.
What left a bitter aftertaste 😖
- Where did all the tourists go? Rob, Donna, and the Vermeers girls are all alone on the beach…
- The tension that has been building since the last episode about Paige, when Kerry quickly approved her daughter’s decision to move. Was there truly no more relevant narrative for their trio?
- I tune out as soon as the superfans start talking about their personal lives.
- I’m having trouble following the chronological order of events; many scenes are mixed up. We go from the pyjama party (which took place on the last night) to moments from the Christmas ball (which took place on the third night).
- Jonathan dares to say that he is about to elect the first ever Mr. Shipmas. That’s not very nice for Charles.
- Far too many staged and unrealistic situations: Erin and Sarah walking on the boardwalk, Taylor reading a book by herself, Paul and Kimberly inviting the sisters to meet them.
- The meaningful conversations in this episode are overshadowed by the lack of spontaneity in the interactions.

Worth a refill? 📣
Of course, I’m not stopping now. With just one episode left, the wedding is almost here, and from the sneak peeks, it looks like it’s going to be super emotional. I can’t wait to see Paige break down in front of Tyler on the basketball court and lose her cool.
